The Entrepreneur Mindset

Posted by on Apr 19, 2013 in Blog, The Business Woman | Comments Off

I’m going to ask you all a question today. Do you want to be a small business owner or an entrepreneur? You may think they are the same thing, but they aren’t.

I was reading an article the other day, and it mentioned that 70% of small businesses are sole proprietorships, meaning that their owners are self-employed. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be employed by anyone, not even myself. Yet small business owners have essentially created jobs for themselves. What they haven’t done is created a business. Have I confused you yet?

Here’s the difference. When a small business owner takes time off, the business doesn’t run. When an entrepreneur takes the day off, the business is running itself. That sounds like more fun.

Some of you are just getting started in the business, and this will be a great opportunity for your to build a solid foundation. Others of you have been in the business for years, haven’t made any progress, and need to start back from scratch. The right way.

Today is about finding out how to be a true entrepreneur. In doing that, we need to get your mindset on the right track because that will shape how you grow your business and how you lead your team.

Be Flexible: Internet marketing is always changing, and the systems you are promoting are always changing. It makes some of you frustrated or overwhelms you.  I’d love to tell you that everything was going to stay the same, but as someone more wise than me once said “change is constant”. The difference is how you approach and adapt to it.  Be confident in the skills you have and trust that you can build new ones and adapt to any change you see.

Be Relational: This one is my favorite! I’m from a long line of car salesmen, and more importantly a long line of leaders.  When I was growing up, my dad would mentor 40 salesmen a year on how to be the best at what they did. In each class he would make them read the book “The Greatest Salesman In The World”, and when I turned 15 he made me read it to. It’s one of my favorite books to date. It’s brilliant and timeless.

I tell you this because it indirectly taught me that everything you do in life is a transaction…a sale. Every interaction you have. If you are going to be successful you need to understand that and use it to build your team.

It’s easy for everyone to get focused on building their team wide. I hear it every day. You are only worried about getting them in. Once they’re in you aren’t  worrying about  supporting them or building them like Eric and I  are currently supporting and building you. This approach works for many and has created plenty of millionaires. But if those people stepped away from their businesses for a 3month trek around the world, their team would die off because they hadn’t been trained properly.

If you want to be a true entrepreneur, you need depth in your team. You need to build up your own leaders and have them build up their own leaders and so on and so forth. Just like we talked about in the beginning of this, that way you can walk away for a random adventure, and you know your team has your back. So how do you do that? You get relational. Take the time to get to know your new downlines and build relationships with them. Know what their goals are and be there to support them. If you are newer and don’t have all the answers to their questions, then come to us and your fellow team members. Ask questions in the facebook group. That’s the reason we created it. All of you are working for the same thing, even if for different reasons. You all want to be financially independent. So get out there and get to know eachother.

Be Humble: This is a lesson Eric earned the hard way. Since Eric started online marketing he has been consistently making money, and each month he does a little better. Then last spring he skyrocketed. He figured out the system that worked for him, and he started making $85-90k a month. It was awesome and what he had been working for but his mindset wasn’t right and Eric got bratty. Eric got overconfident and forgot everything it took to get to that stage. He stopped thinking of the future of the business and focused on the now.

People started approaching Eric about other business opportunities because they realized he had money and a team to bring to them. He added value to their business, but they didn’t add any to his. They sold him on a few of their ideas and investment plans, and he ended up losing a lot of the money he had earned. Then his business started slowing down because while he was being bratty he wasn’t focusing on the future and the vision behind what he wanted to create.  I tell you this because all of your that truly strive to be an entrepreneur will at some point face this dilemma. How you react to it will define the future of your business.  Make sure that you have your mindset straight so that when you start making the big bucks, you stay steadfast and focused on your path which will lead you and your team to even more bucks.

Be Yourself: The best leaders in the world are known for their individuality. They have marketed themselves separately from their competitors. There is only one you. Use that to your advantage. Every second a new internet marketer is born, if you want to distinguish yourself in this industry show what makes you unique. Don’t try to mimic the personalities of the leaders before you because you will just end up the “someone else” in the crowd. Now I’m not saying ignore your mentors. I’m saying learn from them and tailor what they are teaching you to your unique gifts and personalities. Copycats are a dime a dozen.  Make sure you stand apart in the crowd.  You’re all awesome and you all have different strengths, and when I talk one on one with you I can see them. Others can to, so just make sure you let your unique flag flow!

I hope this helped all of you. Make sure you get your mindset straight so that you don’t get lost in the chaos.

Be Confident In Who You Are

Posted by on Apr 3, 2013 in Blog, The Business Woman | Comments Off

Ladies of MatchPointWomen…Ladies of SOARnetworks…we have a new lesson today! icon smile Be Confident In Who You Are

Confidence!

It’s funny how 1 ten letter word can make all the difference. Yet…it does! Everyone is striving for it, but few actually succeed in manifesting it in their spirit.

At my day job, people consider me incredibly confident and capable of handling complex problems. Truth is…I don’t have any idea of what I’m doing most days. It’s not that I’m illiterate or uneducated. For the most part, I have a pretty good idea of what is going on, but I’m in a business built around uncertainty, and the difference between sinking and swimming is that small ten letter word.

This can be applied to all of you that are building your ladies that are building your home based businesses. Confidence sells. If you are a blogger, readers may not necessarily be seeing your confidence through your words, but being confident is part of what keeps you building your business every day. I imagine that some days you want to stop blogging or finding leads or generating traffic. Some days you may feel like you are failing, but you pick yourself up and dust yourself off and move forward.

Do this with your businesses! When you are down…keep moving forward. You ladies got this…now go build your businesses.

The Coral Fashion Trend

Posted by on Apr 1, 2013 in Blog, The Fashionable Woman | Comments Off

Spring 2013 is finally here! Isn’t it fantastic? Eric would tell you that I’m a wee bit grumpy during the winter. I’m not into all the cold weather. Bleh…

Let’s talk all things spring from now on! We can start with one of the color trends you will be seeing this springtime…coral. It’s not orange, it’s not pink. It’s the perfect combination of both.

Since trends come and go, I typically try to add little things here and there to my wardrobe. I’ve found it to be really friendly on my pocket book. Instead of getting the $500 Coral Burberry jacket, I’ll get the $50 coral chandelier earrings. Then I don’t feel so bad when the fall comes and my earrings are out of style. You shouldn’t have to spend a lot of money to look like a celebrity. icon smile The Coral Fashion Trend

Women Who Succeed In Home Based Businesses

Posted by on Mar 29, 2013 in Blog, The Business Woman | Comments Off

Hey ladies!

I hope you are all having a fantastic week! I know I am! icon smile Women Who Succeed In Home Based Businesses

As most of you know, I do a lot of mentoring to women that have online businesses. I love the idea of building women up to lead and succeed in a primarily male dominant industry. The internet marketing world is pretty technical, but it’s not impossible to grasp. I try to make it easier by providing examples and support, and so far the women I mentor are succeeding and growing like crazy. Which is fantastic!

That said, I have a few ladies that aren’t doing so hot, and it’s not because they are incapable of learning it’s that they don’t want to. So this post is for them!

If you are running a home based business for women or you are a woman trying to grasp the internet marketing world, you need to be a go-getter. You need to know how to set smart and reasonable goals. You need to know WHAT you want out of your business and WHAT you are willing to put in to get that. I can tell you if you aren’t willing to put in the time, then you need to find another profession. That may sound harsh, but it’s true.

You need to ask questions, but more than that you need to ask the RIGHT questions. Most online MLM‘s for women have some kind of training provided for their team, so make sure you take advantage of that. More than likely you will find that the answers to your questions can be found within those materials. So use them. Read them. Watch them. Learn them. Show the initiative to be a home based business owner because eventually you may need to lead a team and you will want them to have initiative.

At SOARnetworks I work with a phenomenal group of ladies, and every week they are trying to meet their goals and teach others. I’m so impressed with the intelligence and initiative they have all shown. Some days I think they may be doing better than the boys! icon smile Women Who Succeed In Home Based Businesses The key to their success has really been their ability to work through the training and ask their mentor, me, the right questions. So if you are finding that you aren’t getting the most out of your MLM or your home based business, try to look at what you are putting in to it. Are you really giving it your all or are you sitting on the sidelines waiting for it to happen for you? I hope it’s not the latter.

I like a little pizazz in my wardrobe. I don’t like to go over the top, just like to add a few things here and there that make me stand out a little. It’s so much more fun than playing in the lines.

Mix a little purple spiked bracelet with a Rose Gold watch and I’m golden…literally!

Get Rid Of The Clutter

Posted by on Nov 15, 2012 in Blog, The Business Woman | Comments Off

In life, we often hold on to too much stuff. We are all guilty of it. For instance, those pants you could wear when you were 18, but at 38 you are in no way shape or form fitting your butt back into them. Those should probably go. Take them to Goodwill and help someone who can actually get into them.

We also hold on to emotional clutter. You know the stuff I’m talking about. The boyfriend that dumped you without any warning. The friend who decided to tell all your secrets to the world. The family you always wished you had but weren’t fortunate enough to get. It’s time to let it all go.

All of this clutter blocks the life you can have from the life you do. If you really want to be an entrepreneur or get your home based business off the ground, you have to start first with your mind. You have to start with you! No one else can do this part. Go get to it.

Free up your mind for the boyfriend that will turn into the husband you always dreamed of, the friend that will throw you the best baby shower in the world, and the family that may not be perfect but will be by your side till the end. Once you do all of that, your mind will be free to focus on the here and now, and you will be able to build the business you want. Just trust me on this, and you will see success in your business and your personal life. It’s what I like to call a win-win.

Now go free yourself!!!
